Hey Lovelies,
Check out this exciting idea Janice Solimeno created for our Intructor Showcase at Cues & Tattoos in Seattle, WA April 4 :
The Joy of Improv! Would you like the opportunity to be randomly selected to hop on stage with some of the leading dancers in the San Francisco area and dance an improvisational number with them during the teacher's showcase at Cues & Tattoos? Janice Solimeno is teaching an "Improv Theory" workshop Saturday afternoon. After completing the workshop, 4 interested participants will be randomly selected to join her and 3 others dancing as Sol Belly Dance. Other than that one workshop, the 8 dancers will not have any dance time together. We will demonstrate the power of understanding the commonalities, and differences, between improv dance groups and perform a mid-tempo piece the night of the Teachers' Showcase. No minimum dance experience necessary, but some experience is recommended for your own comfort level. As far as we know, this is the first time anything like this has ever been done. So if you're interested, make sure to attend the workshop and bring some very basic dance gear in case you are selected (black pants - melodias/pantaloons/yoga style; black shorty top - any style, no coin bras, some sort of simplistic hip belt - preferably in the red/maroon family, and a simple flower for your hair). Good luck
- we look forward to doing this experiment with you.
